French-speaking Express Entry candidates now eligible for additional points

Bilingual and French-speaking Express Entry candidates are now eligible for additional points towards immigration application.

The Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino, P.c., M.P., Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenships (IRCC), announced that French-speaking and bilingual candidates will receive additional points under Express Entry system.

This change will help to deliver on government's commitment to reach the target of 4.4% of French-speaking immigrant's admissions outside Quebec by 2023. Awarding additional points to candidates with strong French language skills via Express Entry could increase French-speaking immigrants admissions to 4.4 % target by 2023.

The current number of points increased from 15 to 25 for French-speaking candidates and 30 to 50 for bilingual candidates.
