Alberta launching 2 new immigration pathways

The Government of Alberta is launching 2 new immigration pathways to encourage international graduates to open business in Alberta which will create new high-paying jobs for Albertans.

Starting October 25, 2020, recent international graduates from Alberta’s Universities and colleges who are interested in launching a business and start-ups in Alberta can submit their applications.

International graduates those who are interested can submit their applications through Expression of Interest (EOI) under new International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream.

Candidates who submitted an Expression of Interest will be assessed by AINP and will allot points to respective fields. Candidates with highest-ranking will receive an Invitation to submit a Business Application. The candidates who received an invitation or request to apply, only those candidates are able to access the AINP portal and the start the process. Receiving invitation/request is not a guarantee that applicants will get Canadian Permanent Residence.

In January, Alberta will also launch Foreign Graduate Start-up Visa Stream to attract talented international graduates from the top U.S. Universities and colleges to start business and settle in Alberta.

Work Experience

Have a minimum of 6 months of full-time work experience that can be a combination of actively managing or owning the business.

Education

Have completed at least 2 years full-time education in Alberta, resulting in a degree or diploma from a designated post-secondary institution in Alberta.

Work Permit

Have a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) valid for at least 2 years at the time of submitting Expression of Interest (EOI).

Language

Have a minimum of CLB level 7 in all the 4 modules and the result should be less than 2 years at the time of submitting EOI.

Business Establishment

Must establish a new business or buy the existing business in Alberta with a minimum 34% ownership.

Age

Must be in-between 21-49 years.
